Welcome to the Tarafa Project.Tanzania is made up of over 600 political divisions called 'Tarafa.' The goal of the Tarafa Project is to strategically start and build a new church in each Tarafa. Currently there are 100 tarafa without any evangelical witness. There are different aspects to the Tarafa Project-
Minister- As God calls ministers to start new church plants, they are sent to a four month training program. Here they are equipped with the basic philosophy of church planting, theological and Muslim context training. Then they are sent out to the place that God has called them. But they do not go alone!
Tanzania Churches- As the newly trained pastors start working in the the villages, strong mature churches support that pastor through monthly giving. This allows the pastor to fully commit himself to the new church until it is mature enough to support him. Giving in this way has opened the eyes of the Tanzania church and increased their burden for reaching their country.
American Churches- Having a place to worship is an important step in reaching a new community. Yet this step is by far the most costly in church planting. For $4200 you can give a building to a new church fellowship. This building helps establish them in the community.
